Get to know the KDRN team!
Thank you, Publicity team, for inviting me to share my life story! (don’t worry, I’ll be brief ). What a wonderful idea to add a personal touch to the KDRN newsletter.
My name is Natasha and I founded KDRN in 2017. At the time, I was working on the Ketogenic Diet in Infants with Epilepsy (KIWE) trial
at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health; part of my role was to monitor how consistently the diet was administered across the different study sites and, whilst doing this, I realised that we all needed to talk to each other more! So, I set up the first meeting in London and KDRN was born! Soon after, the wonderful co-Chairs Vicki Whiteley and Kirsty Martin-McGill came on board and, as our membership grew, we further expanded our Committee to include Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity roles.
A bit of a background to my professional life… You may be surprised to know that my undergraduate degree is in Modern and Medieval Languages! I never stopped loving languages, especially Spanish (although I am married to a German!) but I wanted to take a different turn in my professional life, so went on to complete a Masters in Applied Human Nutrition and get my Registered Dietitian qualification at Kings College London. I completed my PhD in Genetic predictors of response to ketogenic diets for epilepsy, and now work as a Ketogenic Dietitian at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and continue with research work at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.
On a personal note, I live with my husband, three kiddiwinks and 2 cats. Life is rather hectic, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! As long as I have a plentiful supply of chocolate and manage to get some ballet classes in, all is right with the world.

Nutricia welcomed us all to Newcastle for KetoConference 2023 where many of our KDRN members presented. Their presentations can be accessed on the Nutricia Academy website.
INKS and Rady’s Children’s Hospital welcomed us to Loews Coronado Bay Resort, San Diego in 17-21 September 2023.

We also offer Associate Membership for dietitians not currently practicing in ketogenic and for other healthcare professionals. Please contact us.
